Summit Restore Software
This is different to the firmware updates in that it installs the Summit's operating system from scratch. This is done during the booting process (check the user's manual for instructions, it's all in there). If a firmware update fails, it may be necessary to perform the system restore from scratch before trying the firmware update again.
September 2010 Update: The restore method detailed in the user manual has been altered slightly since its publication. The Summit Restore file listed above will also include release notes that have new installation instructions included.

Hi everybody,
i have this really good Digital mixer.
I try to update so i begin to put the 'files restore' the Driver first, I turn on my Summit, and SUMMIT icone block 5 minute it's normal. I shutdown the Mixer.
After that, i put the file 'PHONIC.Summit.ap' that i rename 'PHONIC.Summit', and it's the only one on the SD card (SD not SDHC) in FAT-32.
I restart and SUMMIT icone block 5 minute it's normal too but nothing happen.
I try without key it's the same thing : PHONIC red block.
I have test the last Update but firstly it must install the restorfiles to update the 9.12 dsp with the last update files
Have you ever had a similar problem ? How did you proceed to update the mixer ?
I am having a similar issue. It seems that the card reader is not responding. Everytime I try the Firmware update, it says "nothing to update, FAIL." (something like that). BUT, when I do that with no card...it just says "please insert SD card into reader."
If I try to do the System restore, It just boots up as usual, the first file is still on the card.
I have several of these units so I am familiar with the process. Is there any way to update via USB? Or is there some way to fix this card reader? Thanks for your help!
no help at all since 2011... they are so busy promoting their new products while their previous client already bought their unit or product suffers for almost 4 to 5 years without any help.. i do suggest not to buy thire products anymore... poor support, poor product.. buy behringer or presonus instead

I just tried restoring, keep turning on and off, but no solution.

Error DSP1 download error,
I just apply the process for restore and still the same.
remark : I install the drivers and after the app --> for the app the process does'n t work as expected
after one minute on the phonic red screen , the system start and block when checking DSP. It should stay on the phonic screen written in red.
App files were removed from my SD card so for me it's looks ok
I apply this strict process

Performing a System Restore
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the event that starting up your SUMMIT becomes impossible, a system restore may
be necessary. The restore is performed in two parts. Part 1 will restore the driver
while part 2 will restore the interface application.
Restoring the Driver:
1. Extract the contents of summit_upgrade.zip to a new folder.
2. Copy the file "PHONIC.Summit.drv" onto a FAT formatted SD card.
3. Please rename the file to "PHONIC.Summit" (without the original file extension).
4. Ensure "PHONIC.Summit" is the only file on the SD card.
5. Place the SD card in the SD card slot of the Summit and turn the unit on.
6. When you see the red "Phonic" logo on the screen, wait five minutes and before
turning the power off.
7. Insert the SD card back into your computer's reader. The "PHONIC.Summit" file
will then be missing.
Restoring the Application:
8. Next, copy the file "PHONIC.Summit.ap" onto a SD card. Repeat steps 3 through 6.
9. After completing the system restore installation, please reinitialize the Summit.
To do so, enter the Utility menu and select the Scene tab. The initialize ("INI")
button can be found here.
NOTE: Please remember that all file names are case-sensitive.

Olá, estou com uma mesa Phonic Summit com o erro no DSP3 com a mensagem (Download error).
Diagnostico do defeito
Não liga ou logo infinito na tela sem iniciar sistema.
Nos teste foi identificado que o U504C TMS320VC5501PGF300 apresenta resistencia baixa na linha de 3,3 volts dando se como em curto no e que possivelmente causou a queima do reculador de 3,3 U908.
Apos retirar o U504C e substituir o U908 o equipamento voltou a ligar e iniciar o sistema com os testes de todos os DSPs e apresentando o erro no DSP3 que estva sem.
Tentativa de reparo
O U504C TMS320VC5501PGF300 foi substituido por um novo e mesmo assim apresentou o erro DSP3, (Download error),o sistenma recomenda um update de Firmware pra corrigir o problema, mas todas as tentativas de update de Firmware feitas não repararam o problema do DSP3 novo instalado.
O Updade de Firmaware deveria corrigir esse problema escrevendo firmware novo nos DSPs?
Na mensagende Update de Firmware mostra as informações do firmwares dos DSPs
